While I’m having a perfect lazy Sunday morning, I thought the best pairing would be my “moCa capomo coffee substitute” I received this week from “The Vegan Nest.” The Vegan Nest is a collective located in New York City dedicated to a compassionate, healthy, holistic vegan lifestyle and products. I just tried their substitute coffee “moCa”, and let me just tell you, I would not have known it wasn’t coffee if someone hadn’t informed me otherwise.
Their none-joe is made from Capomo (also known as the Maya nut), which is a superfood grown in predominantly warm climates such as Latin America, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands just to name a few regions. The Capomo is naturally enriched with potassium, fiber, calcium, iron, amino acids, antioxidants, and even protein. YEP, I’VE SAID IT PEOPLE, P-R-O-T-E-I-N! (you know that is the question of the century). And with allll this goodness, can you believe that it’s caffeine free??!
As we all know, not everyone can drink coffee or high caffeinated beverages without getting the jitters, headaches, acne, nervousness, and one of the worst- becoming dehydrated. Not only is this drink free of all that mess, it’s even great for breastfeeding mothers! I’m not sure about you, but anytime something is alright for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, I just assume it’s great and safe for anyone else! Just to clarify for those who need this like I do, YOU CAN have a great natural energy drink without increasing your chances of a heartattack. #ijs
Don’t worry, I wasn’t going to go on and on about its health benefits without discussing taste. Again…truly, honestly, and candidly speaking (writing?), this is the first time I could have a great cup of “none-joe” or even a typical cup of joe for that matter without wanting to add a sweetener. This is very smooth, with a nutty rounded flavor, and a sweet finish warm drink. No need for the nut milks or agave however, it is your preference. I just sat in my chair, gazing out the window, relishing in every single sip of my new favorite drink! I’m not just saying that either, I mean this kind of superb taste along with just a few of those health benefits I’ve just listed…yep I’m pretty darn certain this is it. May I add that if you’re a diabetic, I think I’ve just helped you discover the beverage of your dreams! Click here to place your order and learn more of their other products!
How to prepare
It is recommended to prepare this in a French Press, luckily I had one to use. I also recommend to use a French Press, it is great for maintaining its flavor and health properties accompanying it. Yet, if you have a regular brewer, that will work just fine. For those with a French Press follow the instructions below: (click here for other instructions)
- Boil water 10 ounces of water.
- Place 2 tablespoons of moCa Capomo coffee substitute in the French Press.
- When water has come to a boil, let sit for one minute away from heat.
- Pour hot water into French Press, do not push down. Allow steeping for 4 minutes.
- Once 4 minutes have passed, press down, and pour out your new favorite coffee substitute!
There’s really nothing left to say folks, get your moCa Capomo coffee substitute today, and thank me later. Or actually, you can thank me now : ) You’ll absolutely love it!
